Lyon beat Lens 2-0 in their last match, a result that propelled them to the top of the table after Bordeaux had been shocked by St.Etienne. Sidney Govou gave them the lead in the 8^th minute, exchanging passes with Kim Kallstrom before letting loose a long range effort that hit the crossbar and went over the line Yohan Demont missed a wonderful opportunity to equalise for Lens, shooting his penalty wide after Anthony Reveilliere had handled the ball.

The in-form Kallstrom made it 2-0 on 78 minutes, firing into the bottom corner of Vedran Runje’s net from 30 yards out. OL currently have 20 points from eight games, and are one point ahead of defending champions Bordeaux.

Sochaux beat fellow strugglers Le Mans 1-0 at home in their last match.  The result saw Sochaux move to nine points from eight games, two points above the team they defeated. Le Mans also ended the game with ten men after Guillaume Loriot was given his marching orders in the 63^rd minute.

Le Mans keeper Didier Ovono guessed right to stop Vaclav Sverkos’ penalty, but Sochaux got the goal they needed in the 78^th minute. Substitute Eduard Butin crossed into the box from the right, and the ball was passed into the path of Marvin Martin, who fired home from just outside the box.
