Lyon got the point they needed against Liverpool to confirm their progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Dutch substitute Ryan Babel’s wonder goal put Liverpool 1-0 ahead with seven minutes to go, but Lisandro Lopez came up with a reply for OL in the last minute of normal time as Claude Puel’s men kept their unbeaten start to the Champions League intact.

However the match against Liverpool saw two more additions to Lyon’s injury list. Playmaker Miralem Pjanic and right back Anthony Reveillere were both substituted in the first half due to injury problems, and the two, along with Anthony Clerc, will have no part to play in the Marseille game.

While Lyon claimed bragging rights over local rivals St.Etienne last week, Marseille could only draw against Toulouse at home. It was a disappointing result for OM, especially given the fact that their opponents played with ten men for over eighty minutes.

OM crushed FC Zurich 6-1 in their midweek Champions League fixture. An own goal from Silvan Aegerter started the rout, and strikes from Fabrice Abriel and Mamadou Niang put Marseille 3-1 ahead by the hour mark. Vitorino Hilton, Benoit Cheyrou and Brandao then netted for Marseille in the last ten minutes of the game as Zurich were torn to shreds at Stade Velodrome.
