Both the teams have qualified for the knockout stages and have collected 11 points each from their five matches. Bayern were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Lyon in the first leg back in September with Ze Roberto scoring the equalizer eight minutes into the second half after an own goal by Martin Demichelis had given Lyon the lead.

Bayern will be confident of registering their fourth win of the group stage in France with the German champions winning their last four matches in all competitions. In contrast Lyon look to have hit a lean patch and though they continue to occupy the top place in the domestic league table, Claude Puel side have managed just two wins in their last five.

 

 

Lyon have had an upper hand in the recent meetings between the two sides. After being held to a 1-1 draw at home during the 2003-04 group stage match, Lyon went on to register a 2-1 win on German soil in the return leg.

Both the teams were also picked in the same group during the 2000-01 second group stage with Lyon registering a comfortable 3-0 win at home. Bayern have since then made three visits to France, winning one and drawing the remaining two matches.
