Lorient sent Le Mans into the relegation zone by beating Arnaud Cormier’s side 3-0 on Saturday.  Defender Laurent Koscielny put the visitors ahead in the 22^nd minute, and Olivier Monterrubio made it 2-0 shortly before half time with a free kick that was sent by Ibrahima Camara into his own net. The midfielder made sure of all three points when he volleyed home Lorient’s third of the game on 53 minutes.

Striker Kevin Gameiro limped off early in the game against Le Mans and is a doubt for the Lyon clash. This is a crucial stage of the season for Christian Gourcuff and his men. They are seventh in the league at this moment and are just one point behind Lyon, who currently occupy fourth place.

Lyon made it three wins out of three in January 2010 when they beat Nancy 2-0 away from home. OL took the lead eleven minutes from time through Brazilian defender Cris as Nancy keeper Gennaro Bracigliano was made to pay for his horrible misjudgement.

Substitute Maxime Gonalons wrapped up things in the 86^th minute when he fired past Bracigliano after being set up by Michel Fernandes Bastos. It was not all one way traffic though, and things could have ended differently had Issar Dia’s early strike not been disallowed for offside. Dia also found himself in a one on one situation with Hugo Lloris a few minutes later, a battle in which the French keeper came up trumps.
