Liverpool could be without Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard when they welcome defending champions Manchester United in their next Premiership match on Saturday. Watch Liverpool vs Manchester United Live on Live Sport Network's quality football streams.

Gerrard underwent a surgery after suffering from yet another groin injury and could be out of action for at least another week. Manager Rafa Benitez admitted that the chances of his captain taking to the field against United appeared slim, but expressed hope that he will make a speedy recovery.

 

 

Gerrard revealed that he had considered postponing the surgery after the clash against United but changed his mind after the club doctor said that he will unable to continue on taking pain killer injections. It will come as a big blow for Benitez as he is already without Fernando Torres with the Spanish striker out with a hamstring injury that he suffered during Liverpool's 0-0 draw away to Aston Villa.

Meanwhile Manchester United will have Michael Carrick available for selection with the midfielder recovering from a sprained ankle while Ryan Giggs could also make a come back after shrugging off a hamstring problem.

 

 

Dimitar Berbatov is expected to make his debut for United after completing his move in the final hour of the transfer window. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker could start the match with United looking out of form in front of the goal and manager Alex Ferguson will be hopeful that Berbatov can mark his debut with a goal or two.

United have won their last five league meetings against Liverpool who have managed to score just one goal against their arch rivals in eight matches. While both the sides have looked out of form at the start of the new season, United are slight favorites to come away with all three points from the match with Liverpool missing both their star players.
