Emmanuel Adebayor gave the Gunners a deserved lead at the Emirates last week and just when it appeared they had gained the upper hand, Dirk Kuyt equalized much to the dismay of manager Arsene Wenger.

As is the case when both these teams clash there was plenty of controversy involved with Alexander Hleb being tugged by Kuyt in what was a clear penalty for the hosts. However the referee did not award the penalty and the score stayed 1-1, which means that Liverpool need a 0-0 draw to progress through to the semifinals.

Manager Rafa Benitez is expected to rotate his squad in the weekend's Premiership visit to the Emirates. It is being speculated that Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres will be rested to avoid them picking up untimely injuries. The Spanish manager could also rest big names like Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel to ensure they are fit for this clash.

For Arsenal, Robin van Persie is doubtful with a thigh injury. Otherwise Wenger has a full-squad at his disposal. However it is a catch-22 situation for him and it remains to be seen if he is prepared to sacrifice one competition for the other.
