Manager Rafael Benitez will hope his team can continue in the same vein when they welcome Reading to Anfield this Saturday. Liverpool play Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday and will hope to have sealed a place in the quarterfinals of that competition.

The win took Liverpool to 56 points from 29 games. For the Reading game, Liverpool could have Javier Mascherano back from a groin injury. However Xabi Alonso missed the trip to Milan because of his baby's birth and is not a sure starter for this game.

Reading meanwhile have managed to pull themselves out of the relegation dog fight by securing convincing wins in their last two games. Reading manager Steve Coppell will be relieved to see his team positioned 14th on the league table with 29 points from 29 games.

Reading overcame Manchester City 2-0 at Madejski Stadium thanks to goals from Dave Kitson and Shane Long. But despite the win, relegation is a real threat and is compounded by the fact that Reading are missing key players in skipper Graeme Murty and Emerse Fae, who are out with knee injury and malaria respectively.
