Liverpool have been splashing the cash during the summer hoping to get the balance right to mount a serious challenge for the Premiership title. After all the drama involving their American owners, the club appears to be on course for a fruitful season ahead.

 

 

However manager Rafa Benitez received a setback in the form of an injury to skipper Steven Gerrard, which may see him miss the club's UEFA Champions League qualifier against Standard Liege. The Kop will now have a new strike force to look forward to with Robbie Keane switching over from Tottenham.

It is being predicted that his partnership with Fernando Torres will be a lethal one. However Benitez may miss out on Gareth Barry as Aston Villa are holding out for a higher fee.

Lazio on the other hand have signed Switzerland defender Stephan Lichsteiner from Lille to bolster their defense, but Valon Behrami has moved to the Premiership with West Ham. Meanwhile media reports indicate Lazio may be close to signing Roberto Guana as well.
