Juventus took full advantage of Inter Milan’s slip up last weekend, and with their victory over Siena closed the gap at the top of Serie A to just four points. Juventus’ 1-0 home win last weekend against Siena was enough for them to close the gap at the top of the table to just four points. The Turin team took full advantage of Inter’s rather surprising home draw against Cagliari and now really believe they can challenge for the title, thereby loosening Inter’s three year stranglehold on it.

Claudio Ranieri’s early season wobbles are now well and truly behind him and it’s hard to imagine that he was only day’s away from being sacked at one stage! The turnaround has been remarkable and even the Juventus fans themselves can hardly believe the change in fortunes. With things looking up on the league front, there is a looming Champions League game against Chelsea approaching, and if they can get through that tie and into the quarter-finals, the transition will be complete.

The trip to Lazio may well see the inclusion of some of the long term injured and slowly but surely the team is getting back to somewhere close to full strength. It will be a huge test on Sunday though, so whoever ends up playing will have to be at their best.

Lazio come in to the match on the back of a 3-2 win away to Reggina, with a hatrick by Pandev. Their last home game against one of the so-called “big” teams ended in a 3-0 defeat (Inter Milan, four games ago), so they will have to improve dramatically on that if they want to get anything out of this game.
