Latvia v Liechtenstein Live

Latvia and Liechtenstein battle for pride in Group F having exhausted all chances of qualifying for Euro 2008 next year. In a group that has Sweden, Denmark, Northern Ireland and Spain vying for top spots, both these teams were destined to bite the dust.

Nevertheless Latvia Coach Aleksandrs Starkovs has named a strong squad for the final qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Sweden in the hope of finishing as high as possible. SK Liepajas Metalurgs winger Andrejs Rubins makes a comeback to the squad after recovering full fitness.

Skonto FC winger Aleksandrs Cauna finds a place in the squad as does captain Vitalis Astafjevs, who has been declared fit. But Jevgenijs Kosmacovs of FK Ventspils misses out due to a groin injury. Latvia's forward line has hit form toward the fag end of the Euro 2008 campaign, a fact that has delighted their coach, who is looking to end this campaign with his head held high.

Liechtenstein coach Hans-Peter Zaugg will also be looking to do the same and has named a 19-man squad in the hope of dragging his team away from the bottom of Group F. Liechtenstein won 3-0 against Iceland last month and can realistically hope to get off the bottom should they win their last two Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Thomas Beck scored a brace in the Iceland game and gave this tiny nation only their second win of the campaign following their1-0 win over Latvia at home. This is already a great campaign from Liechtenstein's point of view and they can make it their best-ever Euro qualifying campaign should they manage to get off the bottom of the group.

Latvia are fifth in Group F with 9 points from 10 games, while Liechtenstein are at the bottom with 7 points from 11 games.
