Watch Recreativo Huelva v Espanyol Online

Recreativo Huelva will be looking for their first win in the La Liga this season when they welcome Espanyol on Saturday. After being trashed 4-1 by Sevilla in their last outing Recreativo will be looking for some consolation at home.

However any challenge posed by Recreativo will be hampered by the fact that they are without premier striker Sinama Pongolle who is out for up to six weeks after suffering an injury in training this week. However Recreativo will take great heart from the fact that they showed great composure in front of a rampaging Sevilla.

Aitor was the only one to score for them at Sevilla. But they have added more strength to their strike force in the form of Javi Guerrero and Ersen Martin. The former arrived from Nuevo Colombino where he was on loan from Celta de Vigo.

Javi put in a fine performance against Sevilla and Recrativo will hope this is a sign of better things to come from him. Former Turkey international Ersen has also joined Recreativo from Trabzonspor. With these three signings Recreativo will hope to bounce back in the season, which has been mediocre so far. Recreativo are on the 18th spot with two points from three games.

Meanwhile Espanyol had a relatively successful outing against Getafe registering their first win of the La Liga season this year. Espanyol coach Ernesto Valverde was in fine form during that game as his astute tactical moves saw his side net their first win of the season.

However they have injury worries in the form of Garcia and Rufete who continue to be out with undisclosed injuries. Espanyol are currently on the 10th position on the La Liga table with four points from three games and will hope to beat Recreativo in their clash this weekend.

Getafe v Deportivo LaCoruna

Getafe will look to overcome starting problems in the Spanish La Liga as they welcome Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday. Trashed 4-1 by Sevilla on the opening day, Getafe had managed to hold Recreativo Huelva in their second outing, but had to suffer a 1-0 loss to Espanyol last weekend.

Getafe's main problem has been keeping 11 men out on the pitch. In each of their three games so far this season, they have been reduced to 10 men midway through the game and their opponents have capitalized on this numerical advantage each time.

However it is expected that Cotelo, who missed the Espanyol clash through suspension will be back for the Deportivo game. But Esteban Granero will be out following his red card against Espanyol. Meanwhile Rubén De La Red has arrived at Getafe on a two-year contract from Real Madrid. The 22-year-old decided to switch after spending two frustrating seasons at Madrid deprived of first team football.

De La Red could be called upon by Coach Michael Laudrup as Getafe search for their first win of the season. Getafe are currently languishing on the 19th spot with 1 point from three games.

Meanwhile Deportivo La Coruna shrugged off an indifferent start as they recorded their first win of the 2007-08 La Liga season after they overcame a stiff challenge from Real Betis last weekend. Andres Guardado was the lone goal scorer for Deportivo in that game, but it was enough to ensure their first win.

Deportivo La Coruna coach Miguel Angel Lotina has offered a trial to Sporting Gijon striker Edwin de Congo and has given him a chance to win a contract with Deportivo. The former Real Madrid striker arrived for his trial at Deportivo this week.

Lotina will be hoping his team continue from where they left off against Betis as they visit Getafe this weekend. Deportivo La Coruña are in the 11th spot on the La Liga table with four points from three games.

Almeria v Mallorca

Newly promoted Almeria got a taste of what top flight La Liga football was last weekend as they were trashed 3-1 by defending champions Real Madrid. Nevertheless the season has begun on a good note for Almeria and they will hope to continue in the same vein against Mallorca.

Almeria began with a shock 3-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna, but were trounced 2-1 by Valencia in their next game. After the Real Madrid defeat reality will be sinking in at Almeria, but the team has shown good spirit so far. New signing Felipe Melo, Dos Santos and Diego Alves have made immediate impact at the club and they will be expected to continue their good showing.

Almeria goalkeeper David Cobeno had a nightmarish outing at Madrid and he will want to make amends in the Mallorca clash. Crusat Domene was suspended for one game after receiving a red card versus Real Madrid and will only be eligible to play on September 26. Meanwhile Sanchez did not play during Saturday's match against Real Madrid and it is not clear if he is eligible for the Mallorca clash. Almeria are on the 12th spot on the La Liga table with three points from as many games.

Mallorca's season has been topsy-turvy to say the least. They began in fine fashion beating Levante 3-0 at home, but were then held to a 1-1 draw at Athletico Madrid. Last weekend they lost a close game to Villarreal and will be keen to make amends against Almeria.

Manager Gregorio Manzano has signed six new players in the summer including a loan move for Valencia's David Navarro. Although the latter is yet to make any impact, the Mallorca line-up is definitely bolstered by his presence.

Athletico Madrid v Racing Santander

Athletico Madrid will be looking for their first win in this La Liga season as they welcome Racing Santander at the Vicente Calderon this Sunday. Athletico have managed to garner just two points from their three games so far.

After their first game loss in the derby against rivals Real Madrid, Athletico drew with Real Mallorca and with new boys Real Murcia. Sergio Aguero's goal looked to have taken a giant step toward securing Athletico's first win last weekend, but a determined Murcia hit back late on to hold them to a 1-1 draw.

For Athletico, Loureiro has still not recovered from an ankle injury and is being monitored on a day to day basis. Athletico Madrid appear to be missing the services of famed striker Fernando Torres who moved to England with Liverpool at the start of the season. Although they have gone on a spending spree this summer, their strike force does appear to be weak.

Atletico Madrid are on the 14th spot in the La Liga table with two points from three games.

Meanwhile Racing Santander had a dream start to their season as they held mighty Barcelona to a draw in their opening fixture. Last weekend Racing Santander registered their first victory of the new La Liga season as they overcame Levante 1-0.

Pedro Munitis gave Racing a memorable win and they will look to build upon this when they meet Athletico Madrid this weekend. However injuries continue to plague the team with Moraton, Navas and Valle Trueba nowhere near match fit.

Still it should be an interesting game to watch out for.

Levante v Athletic Club Bilbao

Levante's miserable start to this year's La Liga season continued as they went down to Racing Santander last weekend. Levante are also plagued by a series of injuries to key players and it will take a Herculean effort for them to overcome Bilbao on Sunday.

Mathieu Berson recovered in time from gastroenteritis to take his place in the Levante starting line-up on Sunday, but it is unclear if he is fit for the Bilbao clash. However Shota Arveladze was unavailable due to minor knee surgery and he is expected to be out for at least one month. Arveladze had to have surgery after tearing his meniscus.

Courtois is being monitored on a day to day basis as he is struggling to deal with a knock. Levante had a wretched start to the season as they were trashed 3-0 on the opening day by Mallorca. they managed to hold newly promoted Murcia to a 0-0 draw, but went down to Racing Santander last week. They have bottomed out on the La Liga table with one point from three games.

Athletic Club Bilbao have begun their season in a sedate fashion. They were held to a 0-0 draw by Osasuna, but lost to Bracelona 3-1 in their next game. Bilbao were again held to a 1-1 draw by Real Zaragoza last week.

For Bilbao, Yeste is still out of the game with a pelvic bone surgery. It is reported that the surgery was successful and that he might return to action by the end of this month. Athletic Bilbao are on the 17th spot on the La Liga table with 2 points from three games.

Last season this fixture was won 2-0 by Athletic Club Bilbao and they will hope to repeat the same this year as well.

Real Betis v Valencia

Real Betis began the new La Liga season in a decent manner, but this start was spoilt by the 1-0 defeat to Deportivo La Coruna last weekend. Betis face another tough game this Sunday when they welcome Valencia to the Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

Betis began the season with a 1-1 draw away to Recreativo Huelva and followed that up with a -2 draw at home to Espanyol. However they were unable to prevent Deportivo from sealing a win in their third match.

Betis should be thankful to keeper Ricardo for his magnificent keeping ensured that they did not lose by a bigger margin at Deportivo.

Meanwhile Chile international winger Mark Gonzalez who moved to Betis despite being at Liverpool recently said he had no regrets because of the huge fan support he has gotten so far at Betis. That should surely spur the Betis fans on this Sunday.

Real Betis currently occupy the 15th spot on the La Liga table with 2 points from three games.

Valencia on the other hand have begun their latest La Liga campaign in typical fashion. They suffered a shock defeat to Villarreal in their opening game, but came back in the next two games beating Almeria and Valladolid by identical margins of 2-1.

Valencia will miss Vicente who is out for about a month with thigh injury. Valencia are currently in the third place on La Liga table with six points from three games.

Last season this fixture was won 2-1 by Real Betis who will hope to repeat the dose as they search for their first win of the new season.

Real Zaragoza v Osasuna

Real Zaragoza will be looking for their first win when they meet Osasuna at the Estadio La Romareda this Sunday. Zaragoza were humbled by new boys Murcia on the opening day of the 2007-08 La Liga season.

Thereafter they were held to 1-1 draw by Racing Santander and more recently by Athletic Bilbao. The start to the new season has not pleased the home fans as they find their team involved in an early relegation battle. Therefore it will be vital for Zaragoza to clinch three points against Osasuna on Sunday.

Zaragoza midfielder David Generelo broke a bone in his left foot in the game against Athletic Club Bilbao and requires surgery ruling him out of the UEFA Cup trip to Aris Thessaloniki of Greece. It is unclear as to exactly how much time he will miss because of the surgery.

Meanwhile goalkeeper César Sánchez has agreed to extend his stay at the club by a year until June 2009. Real Zaragoza are currently on the 16th spot on the La Liga table with two points from three matches.

Osasuna on the other hand have had a decent start to their La Liga campaign. They were held to a 0-0 draw on the opening day at Bilbao and followed it up with a decent 0-0 draw against mighty Barcelona.

Monreal missed Sunday's match with an undisclosed injury and it is not clear if he is available for the Zaragoza trip. Osasuna are currently in the 13th spot on the La Liga table with two points from as many games.

Last season this fixture was won 2-1 by Osasuna.

Villarreal v Murcia

Villarreal will look to continue their fine form this season as they take on Murcia in their fourth match of the 1007-08 La Liga season. Villarreal began the new season with a 3-0 win over Valencia, but suffered a 5-0 rout away to Real Madrid.

However the team bounced back nicely in the last outing with a 1-0 win over Mallorca. Villarreal striker Nihat Kahveci was the one who snatched the late winner at Mallorca. However he admitted in a recent interview that he might need to strengthen his legs a bit more to regain full fitness.

Rodriguez is the only injury worry for Villarreal as he is out with an undisclosed injury and is being monitored on a daily basis. Villarreal are currently in the fourth spot on the La Liga table with six points from three games.

Murcia on the other hand got off to a dream start on their return to top flight La Liga football this season. they defeated Real Zaragoza 2-1 in their opener and followed it up with a 0-0 draw at Levante and a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao.

Torres missed Sunday's match with an undisclosed injury and is not certain to take the field against Villarreal, while Garcia is also not certain to be fit for Sunday's game. Murcia are currently on the sixth spot on the La Liga table with five points from three games.

The last time these two teams met was in 2004 when Villarreal prevailed 1-0.
