LA Galaxy are currently third in the Western Conference, with 28 points from 19 games. They are four points behind leaders Houston, and three behind Seattle Sounders. Their most recent game, against the Kansas City Wizards, ended in a 1-1 draw. The Wizards took the lead through Claudio Lopez, but Galaxy skipper Landon Donovan equalised on 33 minutes.

The Donovan goal was assisted by David Beckham. The former England skipper is a doubt for this game with a back injury. Galaxy played AC Milan in a friendly a fortnight ago, and drew the game 2-2. Alan Gordon and Bryan Jordan were the scorers for Galaxy on that occasion. David Beckham had a hand in both goals against his former club.

While Los Angeles are already in the middle of their season, Barcelona are still in pre-season mode. They recently competed in the Wembley Cup, where they finished second behind Celtic. Barcelona drew their first game 1-1 against Spurs, and thrashed Al Ahly 4-1 in their other fixture.

New signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joined the Blaugrana on the plane to the United States. He is however not expected to play on Sunday. After LA, Barcelona will play the Seattle Sounders and Chivas de Guadalajara before returning to Spain.
