Kansas City finished 6^th in the Eastern Conference last year, a whopping sixteen points behind Conference winners Colombus Crew. In the overall table, they finished third from bottom, only above the San Jose Earthquakes and the New York Red Bulls.

The KC Wizards were last seen in action against the Colorado Rapids in an MLS game. Davy Arnaud opened the scoring for the Rapids in the 20^th minute, only for Scott Palgutta to restore parity for the Wizards sixteen minutes later.

The Wizards have not won in the MLS since June 10, when they beat Philadelphia Union 2-0.  Since then, they have lost to the Red Bulls, Dallas, Chivas USA and Colombus Crew and drawn against the Rapids. Curiously enough, Manchester United’s last game on their American tour was also against Union.
