Kaiserslautern won lesser games than second placed St. Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga last season, but pipped their rivals to the title as they lost only half as many games as St.Pauli.

Kaiserslautern won 19 of their 34 games and had the most miserly defence in the league- they conceded only 28 times in the full season. Fritz Walter Stadium, FCK’s home ground, will be full of fans egging their home team forward. Bayern Munich once lost a game 7-4 at this stadium after leading 4-1 at half time.

Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly against Al-Hilal was rained out. Their second outing was against Swiss outfit Grasshopper. Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard and defender Jamie Carragher will not be playing for the Reds this weekend. Kaiserslautern will take on Auxerre after the friendly against Liverpool.
