Juventus couldn’t take full advantage of Inter Milan’s surprising defeat last weekend, when they could only draw away to Lazio. They have, on the other hand, managed to close the gap on Mourinho’s team to just three points and the title race is now “officially” back on. Juventus travelled down to the capital last weekend to face Lazio in Rome’s Olympic Stadium in what turned out to be a very difficult tie. They ended the game with a 1-1 draw which, at the end of the day, saw them close the gap on Inter at the top of the table to just three points. Lazio are always going to be a difficult team to beat on their own patch, so Juve will be happy enough with the point earned, considering they went behind to a 24^th minute goal. They did respond within five minutes though, but that was the end of the scoring for the afternoon, no matter how hard both teams tried.

On Saturday Juventus will be hell bent on securing a victory to make up for last weekend’s two “dropped” points. Ranieri will have pointed out the importance of getting through a seventh successive Serie A game without defeat, with the victory the obvious priority.

Fiorentina travels to Turin on the back of a 1-0 away defeat at AC Milan. They are now in sixth position in the league with 32 points but still only three points out of a Champions League qualifying spot. Last weekend’s was their second successive league defeat which has dented their recent very good form.
