Juventus will be looking to overturn their first leg deficit against Chelsea when the two teams clash again in their Champions League knockout stage second leg match on Tuesday. The Italian side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Stamford Bridge thanks to a 14th minute goal from Didier Drogba. The defeat extended Juventus' run of away defeats in this stage of the competition to seven matches but manager Claudio Ranieri will be hoping to replicate his side's excellent home form that has seen them overturn a first leg deficit four times in the last seven attempts.

Chelsea on the other hand have managed to hold on to their first leg advantage just once in the last three occasions. The Blues managed to dump out Bayern Munich during the 2004-05 season but were unlucky against Liverpool two years later while having already lost out the lead against Barcelona during the 1999-00 quarter finals.

 

 

The Blues extended their one goal victory margin under new manager Guus Hiddink to four matches with a 1-0 win over Portsmouth in the domestic league and will be confident of coming away with the required result in Italy as they look to go one better from last season and win their first ever Champions League trophy.

Chelsea’s last visit to Italy ended in defeat with the Blues losing out 3-1 to AS Roma in on Matchday 4 of this season, finishing one point behind their Italian opponents in second place. However Chelsea have a decent record away to Italian sides, losing just two of the five matches played so far.
