Italy once again go into the tournament as the underdogs but coach Marcello Lippi will be optimistic that his side can repeat their 2006 heroics and claim a record equaling fifth World Cup title by the end of the tournament.

Lippi has once again selected a very experienced squad with Domenico Criscito being the youngest player in the squad at 23 years of age. Italy will be without Andrea Pirlo with the 32-year old out of action for the first two games with an injury.

Meanwhile Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino has expressed his confidence that his side can take advantage of the slow legs in the Italian defense by playing attacking football. Martino has got a very good strikeforce with Nelson Valdez, Oscar Cardozo and Lucas Barrios scoring 72 goals between them while Roque Santa Cruz will also prove a handful.
