The 52-year old took over the post last month after Lars Lagerback resigned from his post following an unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign that saw Sweden miss out on a play-offs spot by just one point.

Hamren has been appointed as a part-time manager until August next year when he will be resigning from his position as the Rosenborg coach. Hamren has received a big blow just a month into his new job with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is considering his international future.

The Barcelona striker was not picked up in the 24-man squad to face Italy this week and while the reason was thought to have been a calf injury, Hamren revealed that Ibrahimovic is not sure whether he wants to continue playing for the Blagult following their inability to qualify for the World Cup.

While Italy are expected to secure a victory on Wednesday, Hamren will be taking some hope following a disappointing performance from the world champions against Netherlands on Saturday.

Both the teams labored in vain last weekend at the Adriatico Stadium as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Coach Marcelo Lippi will be disappointed with his team's performance and will be looking for improvement as he looks to sign off the year on a winning note against Sweden this week.
