Italy coach Marcello Lippi will be expecting an improved performance from his side against Montenegro after the World champions were held to a 0-0 draw by Bulgaria on Saturday. Watch footy live here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Italy went into the game confident of maintain their 100 percent record but were in for a rude shock as Montenegro made them work for their chances, though the Italians failed to hit the target. Alberto Gilardino should have had put Italy in the lead on 72 minutes but failed to keep his shot on target with just the keeper to beat.

Though the win sees Italy maintain their position at the top of the league table, Lippi will be aware that his side dropped two vital points against a side that is expected to be challenging for the two qualification places come the end of the group stage next year.

 

 

Meanwhile Montenegro coach Zoran Filipovic will be hoping to come away from their double header against Italy with minimal damage and remain in with a chance to spring a surprise challenge for a qualification place.

Montenegro go into the match following a 0-0 draw against Republic of Ireland in their last match but Filipovic will be disappointed with the result after his side created a number of chances and only a brilliant performance by Ireland keeper Shay Given prevented them from collecting all three points from the match

 

 

Both the teams are scheduled to play again in their next match in March next year and Lippi will be expecting maximum points from the two matches as he looks to wrap up their qualification process as soon as possible.
