Israel clash against Latvia in their next world cup qualifier at the Ramat Gan stadium this weekend hoping to cause a few flutters in Group Two by clinching a win here. Israel lie on the fourth spot in this group with nine points from six games played so far. They trail Greece and Switzerland by four points each and third-placed Latvia by a single point.

Topping the group appears to be out of question, so coach Dror Kashtan will hope to fight for the best second-placed finish. Dudu Aouate will definitely start in goal for this one, but Israel have issues in defense as Tal Ben Haim is out with suspension.

Dekel Keinan, Avi Strool, Yoav Ziv and Klemi Saban are expected to start in defense, but Kashtan will be nervy with a fragile back four. Yossi Benayoun may be partnered by Ben Sahar in the wings, but even in midfield there are no certainties for Israel. Yaniv Katan is expected to bear the goal scoring burden along with Elyaniv Barda.

Meanwhile Latvia will still hope they can cause an upset or two in this group. They are currently third with 10 points from six games and a win here will have been breathing down the necks of Greece and Switzerland.
