Following their home win against Hibs last weekend, Celtic face a long trip to Inverness on Sunday to face Inverness CT in a vital SPL game. Thanks to Rangers’ draw away to Aberdeen earlier in the day, Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the SPL table to four points after their rather fortunate win against Hibernian at Parkhead by 3-1. The Bhoys started off brightly and were two up within the first ten minutes with goals from McDonald (on three minutes) and McManus (on nine minutes). The fast start to the game showed that Celtic were trying to put their recent indifferent form behind them but Hibs had other ideas and pulled a goal back in the seventeenth minute. Although Celtic had a couple more chances to increase their lead, it was Hibs that took the initiative, carving out a few good chances. Hibs were definitely the better team in the second half and should have equalised, but as is always the case when you don’t take your chances, the other team will come back to punish you. Celtic did just that and managed to score a third goal against the run of play in the 76^th minute, again from McDonald, and effectively put the game to bed.

Celtic go to Inverness this Sunday knowing that despite last week’s win, their indifferent spell continues, and with a difficult League Cup semi final to get through on Wednesday evening against Dundee United, manager Gordon Strachan knows that things have to improve and fast; especially as Rangers are showing very good form at the moment.

For their part, Inverness CT lost 3-2 away to Hearts last week and were unlucky in the fact that they conceded a last minute goal. This after they had managed to equalise themselves in the 88^th minute!
