A disappointing qualifying campaign has seen Portugal sit fourth in the group table, seven points behind group leaders Denmark. While coach Carlos Queiroz needs a mini miracle to help Portugal qualify directly to the World Cup finals, the former Real Madrid manager will be hoping to at least finish in the play-offs spot and keep his side in contention to make it to South Africa next year.

Portugal were set for more disappointment at the Parken Stadion against Denmark on Saturday after going behind to a Nicklas Bendtner goal in the first half and needed a late equalizer from Leidson to snatch a point from the game.

Portugal need to win all of their remaining three games and hope that Hungary and Sweden drop points if they are to have any hopes of keeping their World Cup dreams alive.

Hungary on the other hand could further solidify their play-offs position by collecting all three points on Wednesday. Erwin Koeman's side are just one point ahead of Sweden in the race for the play-offs spot and with Sweden expected to register a comfortable victory over Malta, Koeman will be aware that his side will have to beat Portugal in order to hold on to their second position in the table.

Hungary's bid to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time in 22 years received a setback on Saturday as they suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sweden. Olof Mellberg had given Sweden an early lead in the 9th minute but Hungary looked to have snatched a late equalizer when Sszabolcs Huszti scored from the penalty spot with just 10 minutes remaining. Just when it looked as if Hungary had done enough to avoid defeat, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored late in injury time to give his side all three points from the game.
