Every fan at the KC Stadium will be worried about the prospects of the home team who started out in a magnificent manner only to slip up of late. On Monday Hull went down to Tottenham 1-2 with Jon Woodgate scoring the winner for Spurs after Michael Turner had nullified Aaron Lennon's early strike.
In the FA Cup, Hull have made steady progress reaching the fifth round of the competition for the first time since 1989 after beating Milwall 2-0 in the fourth round thanks to goals from Michael Turner and Ian Ashbee. In the regular fifth round match against Sheffield United, the teams settled for a 1-1 draw after Greg Halford and Kamil Zayatte scored a goal each for their respective teams.
Hull are worse off without record signing Jimmy Bullard, who has had knee surgery and will be out for between six to nine months. Craig Fagan is also out with a knee injury, meaning Brown has a depleted line-up at his hands.
Meanwhile Sheffield United progressed to the fifth round with a 2-1 win over Championship side Charlton with gals from Danny Webber and Lee Hendrie canceling out Dickinson's 69th minute striker for Charlton. Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell will be aware of the plight Hull find themselves in and will aim to cause an upset on Thursday. The Blades will be without defender Chris Morgan, who sustained an injury when the teams first met last week. This will be a definite opening for the home side, but manager Brown may opt to field a reserve side keeping in mind the bigger battles ahead in the Premiership.
