Portsmouth slumped to their eighth defeat in nine games as they lost out 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Goals from Ledley King and Jermain Defoe had given Spurs a 2-0 lead at half time and though Kevin-Prince Boateng managed to reduce the deficit for Pompey, they were unable to find the equalizer before the full time whistle.

With Ali Al-Faraj's takeover being completed last week and the club being promised funds in the January transfer window, manager Paul Hart will now be focusing on Pompey's on-field problems. Though the club has made the worst start in the history of the Premier League, Hart will be satisfied with his side's recent performances and will be optimistic that results will come if his players can maintain the same level of determination for the remainder of the season. Hart will be looking to take advantage of Hull's poor run of form by collecting vital three points this weekend. The Tigers suffered a 2-0 defeat to Fulham last weekend with Bobby Zamora and Diomansy Kamara hitting the back of the net.

Hull failed to produce even one shot on target on a night where they were completely dominated by their opponents. The Tigers have lost four of their last five games and find themselves 18th in the league table with seven points from nine games.

While there are no injury concerns for Phil Brown's side, Pompey welcome Richard Hughes, Papa Bouba Diop and Joel Ward while Hermann Hreidarsson could make it to the squad after recovering from a foot injury.
