Just one win in 18 matches has seen Hull fall from third position in the league table to 14th place, five points above the relegation zone. However with their side snatching a narrow win last week, fans will be hopeful that they can build on the victory to assure themselves a place in the league for the next season.

The Magpies have collected just one point from their last three matches and are just two points above Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth, both of whom have a game in hand.

Newcastle's chances of registering only their second victory in 11 matches could be boosted by the return of Michael Owen who has been out of action since January due to a ligament injury. Owen will be hoping to stage another rescue act after he and Obafemi Martins helped Newcastle avoid relegation last season.
