Hull have not won a match since their narrow 2-1 win over Middlesbrough early in December with manager Phil Brown worried about his side's defensive frailties after Hull conceded 10 goals in their last three matches.

 

 

However fans will be hopeful of a positive result with Hull having already beaten Newcastle 2-1 at St James Park early in September. A brace from Marlon King saw the Tigers take a 2-0 lead before Xisco reduced the deficit with nine minutes remaining.

With Newcastle United struggling in the league, manager Joe Kinnear will be hoping to tinker his tactics and line up as he looks to find a perfect balance to his side ahead of the January transfer window. Kinnear has revealed that he is targeting at least two players and would like to complete the deals as soon as possible as he looks to move up the league table from their current position.

 

 

Newcastle are struggling with injuries that has seen them miss the services of Obafemi Martins, Joey Barton, Habib Beye and Mark Viduka. The Magpies go into their FA Cup clash on the back of a horrendous performance that saw them get thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool last weekend. Hull City were dumped out of the third round last season by Plymouth while Newcastle needed a replay to beat Stoke City before losing out to Arsenal in the fourth round.
