Blackburn dumped Chelsea out of the Carling Cup with a 3-3 draw in the quarter finals and followed it up with a good display in their 0-0 draw against Liverpool last weekend. Manager Sam Allardyce expressed his delight at the recent performances and will be looking forward to build on the good form from the touchline after recovering from his heart surgery.

Allardyce will be aware of the importance of this weekend’s fixture. A victory for Blackburn could take them into the top half of the league table but a defeat could see them slip further closer to the relegation zone. Blackburn have no major injury concerns with the only absentee, David Dunn, expected to return back to action after recovering from a calf injury.

The same cannot be said of Hull City who will be missing Jimmy Bullard for at least six weeks after the midfielder limped off the field against Aston Villa with a knee injury. The former Fulham midfielder had sparked a mini revival at Hull in the last three to four games and manager Phil Brown will be hopeful that his side can cope with the absence of their key player.

Allardyce will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s performance as Blackburn secured a narrow 2-1 win over Hull in this fixture. Stephen Warnock andKeith Andrews were on target for Rovers while Ian Ashbee grabbing a consolation goal late in the second half.
