Hapoel Tel-Aviv v Tottenham LiveIt’s a stern test for new Spurs boss Juande Ramos as they travel to Israel to face H Tel Aviv in their second UEFA Cup clash this season. Soundly beaten 2-1 by Getafe at White Hart Lane, Tottenham will be hoping for better results in their European sojourn. The Getafe game also happened to be Martin Jol's last game in charge of Spurs.
Struggling in the Premier League, Tottenham might be forgiven for thinking that UEFA Cup is not of prime importance at this moment. However their new boss Juande Ramos has won the UEFA Cup live twice with former club Sevilla and will not take the competition lightly.
Tottenham, who are two-time UEFA Cup winners have struggled to maintain any sort of form this season. Doubtless the boardroom wrangles have had an effect on team morale, but Tottenham have enough character to overcome disquiet if any.
Another issue plaguing the club is the future of star striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has been unsettled in the last few months. Various media sources have suggested that Berbatov wants to leave if Spurs fail to achieve a top four finish. Manchester United are reportedly waiting in the wings for the Bulgarian striker. Tottenham are fourth in Group G with no points from their lone game so far.
Hapoel Tel-Aviv have also struggled to get going in the UEFA Cup. The Israel side began on a dismal note with 2-0 loss at RSC Anderlecht and will be hoping to make amends at home. One comforting factor for the team is that they have not lost in the last six UEFA competition matches played on home soil. H. Tel-Aviv are at the bottom of Group G with no points from one game.
