Hannover were beaten 2-0 by Schalke last weekend at the Veltins Arena. Second half goals from Jefferson Farfan and Jan Moravek gave the Royal Blues a 2-0 win over Hannover and allowed Felix Magath’s side to widen the gap between them and Hannover 96 to nine points.  Young Florian Fromlowitz stood in goal against Schalke in the absence of Enke, and is expected to don the gloves this weekend against Bayern too.

Hannover are on a three game unbeaten home streak in the Bundesliga. They beat Freiburg and Stuttgart in October, and drew with Hamburger SV earlier this a month, a game which would prove to be Robert Enke’s last for the club.

However there was some respite for Bayern in the Champions League as they beat Maccabi Haifa at home and Bordeaux beat Juventus in the other game. Croatian striker Ivica Olic scored the only goal of the game shortly after the hour mark. The results on Match Day 5 mean that Bayern can qualify for the last sixteen if they beat Juventus in Turin a fortnight later.
