Rangers will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the SPL table when they clash against Hamilton this weekend. The defending SPL champions have built up a seven-point lead at the top of the table over fierce rivals Celtic although the latter have a game in hand. Gers have 44 points from 19 games played so far. Rangers have already played Hamilton earlier in the week being held to a 3-3 draw in the Scottish Cup.

Rangers took the lead through Steven Whittaker and made it 2-0 on 30 minutes after Kenny Miller's goal. However, Accies pulled it back through Simon Mensing. Goals from Marco Paixao and Mickael Antoine-Curier on 45 minutes gave Hamilton a 3-2 lkead, but Miller scored again to level things off.

While manager Walter Smith would have been happy to force a replay in that game, he would have been unhappy with the injury picked up by star striker Kris Boyd. The latter limped off in the game against Hamilton and faces a six-week layoff. Smith confirmed Boyd may need hernia surgery.

Boyd's absence is a serious blow to Rangers who are flying high thanks to his goal fest in recent games.

Meanwhile Hamilton will hope to show the same spirit on Saturday as well and get something out of this game. The Accies are currently placed 10th on the league table with 16 points from 16 games played so far.

Manager Billy Reid has no fresh injury worries, but continues to be without the services of Derek Lyle and James Gibson.
