Hamburg were taken the distance by Standard’s great domestic rivals Anderlecht in the Round of 16. HSV won 3-1 in the first leg, but had to endure several anxious moments in the return leg before winning 6-5 on aggregate. Dieumerci Mbokani scored the winner in the home leg. However key defender Mohamed Sarr was booked in the second leg, meaning that he will miss the trip to the Nordbank Arena.
