After a shock loss on Match Day 1 to Rapid Vienna, Hamburg have recovered to post wins in their last Europa league group games. Marcus Berg, who scored twice in HSV’s 4-2 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv on Match Day 2, scored the only goal of the game when Bruno Labbadia’s men visited Parkhead a fortnight ago.

Hamburg were handed their first Bundesliga defeat of the season by Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. HSV took the lead twice in the game, but Gladbach showed great spirit to equalise on both occasions and substitute Rob Friend won it for the visitors with his strike eight minutes from time. Piotr Trochowski and Ze Roberto were the scorers for Hamburg against Gladbach.

Celtic bounced back from their Co-Operative Insurance Cup defeat against Hearts as they beat Kilmarnock 3-0 on Saturday. The men from Ayrshire, who have not won at Celtic Park in the last five and a half decades, were swept aside by Tony Mowbray’s men. Aiden McGeady, Georgios Samaras and Niall McGinn were on target for the Bhoys against Killie.

Celtic have never won against German opposition away from home. Their recent European away record also makes for poor reading- they have won only once in 25 games on the road.
