Lyon drew 1-1 against Lorient in their first league game of 2009. Ederson gave OL an early lead, but Lorient hit back through Fabrice Abriel. The result, coupled with Bordeaux’s 4-0 thrashing of Paris St.Germain, means that Lyon go into this game with a mere one point lead. Claude Le Puel’s men cannot afford any more slip ups, and for starters, they need to pick up full points against mid table Grenoble.

Grenoble, promoted from Ligue 2 last season, have hit a rough patch recently. In their last five games at home, they failed to score in four, and only managed to win one. In their first Ligue 1 game of 2009, they lost 1-0 to Rennes. Grenoble have scored less goals than any of the other nineteen teams in Ligue 1- just 13 from 20 games. The likes of Nassim Akrour and Daniel Moreira need to get their scoring shoes on if Grenoble are to upset Lyon. Milivoje Vitakic will return after serving a one match ban.
