Tournament favorites United States kick off the defense of their CONCACAF live Gold Cup title with an easy match against minnows Grenada at the Qwest Field on Saturday. Catch all the live footy action by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

The Yanks go into the tournament following a hugely successful Confederations Cup campaign in which they nearly pulled off an upset by lifting their first major trophy on the international stage. USA shocked Spain with an efficient performance in the semi finals by beating the European champions 2-0 before almost securing a shock result in the final by taking a 2-0 lead against Brazil only to lose 3-2.

 

 

Coach Bob Bradley will be delighted by the form shown by his side this year with the United States in pole position to qualify for the World Cup finals next year. The United States are the second most successful side to play in the Gold Cup, winning the trophy four times, including the last two editions.

Meanwhile Grenada will be hopeful of avoiding a heavy defeat against a side that is ranked 76 places above them in the Fifa World Rankings. This is the first time that Grenada have qualified to the tournament after losing out to Jamaica in the Caribbean Championship last year.

 

 

Grenada have appointed Tommy Taylor as the coach of the team and the former West Ham player will be keen to help his side make a mark on the tournament in their debut appearance.
