Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has promised to make changes following his side's disappointing showing against Hartlepool United last weekend. Dennis Oli, who returned successfully from a knee injury over the weekend, could start this game, but it is unclear if he can last the full 90 minutes.

Mark McCammon and winger Chris Palmer may also be drafted into the first team as Gills aim to cause an upset early on in the cup.

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce does not have the luxury of making many changes to his team as he has multiple injury worries ahead of this game. The Rivers have started poorly in the Premier League and Allardyce needs to get his team ticking if they are to avoid a repeat of last year's relegation battle.

Ryan Nelsen is out with a knee injury and Chris Samba is out with a heel issue. This could pave the way for the return of Stephen Warnock, but the defender is not in the right frame of mind following a bid by Aston Villa. Allardyce admitted the club would let him go if the price was right.

Other injury worries include Franco Di Santo, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury and Benni McCarthy who has an ankle injury.
