The Germans were expected to secure a comfortable victory over Serbia following their demolition of Australia in their opening group game but struggled to find the rhythm. Germany received a big blow midway through the first half when Miroslav Klose was sent off and Serbia took full advantage to take the lead while Lukas Podolski missed a golden chance to equalize from the penalty spot.

With Serbia expected to collect all three points against Australia and Ghana having secured a point more than their European rivals, Germany coach Joachim Loew will be aware that anything less than a victory could see his side suffer a humiliating exit in the group stages.

Ghana on the other hand will be aware that a draw will be enough for them to become the first African nation to qualify to the knockout stage in this World Cup. There are no major injury concerns for Ghana while Germany will be without Klose who is suspended for the next game.
