Ghana lost out to Cameroon in the semi finals with Alain Nkong scoring the only goal of the match in the 71st minute. Ghana coach Claude Le Roy will be disappointed with the result after his side had done enough to keep out a much superior Cameroon attack for most of the game. Cameroon had struggled to create any real chances of not before Nkong slid in to give his side the win.

This is the furthest that Ghana have progressed in the competition since finishing as the runners up in the 1992 edition. Le Roy will now have to make sure that his players go all out for a win when they meet Ivory Coast this Sunday.

Meanwhile Ivory Coast fans are still shocked by the 4-1 mauling handed by Egypt in the semi final clash on Thursday. The Elephants were being billed as favorites to go through to the final but Egypt had other plans as two goals from Amr Zaki and one each from Ahmed Fathi and Aboutriaka saw them thrash Ivory Coast by 4-1.

Didier Drogba was involved in a controversy of sorts by being excluded from the African Footballer of the Year award just because he could not attend the function in Togo while the action was in Ghana. It is unclear if the Chelsea striker was affected by the controversy. The award was ultimately won by Mali striker Frederic Kanoute.
