Getafe on their part will hope to recover from what has been a bad year for them so far. From the dizzying heights of a top four position, the club has slipped badly and is currently at the 8th spot on the La Liga table with 27 points from 18 games played so far.

Last weekend, Getafe lost by a 1-0 margin to Malaga to follow up on a shock 1-0 loss to Sporting Gijon the previous week. Getafe had mauled Malaga in the Copa del Rey and were expecting an easy game, but Malaga surprised them thanks to a lone goal from Nabil Baha in the 84th minute.

Derek Boateng, Jaime Gavilan and David Belenguer have recovered from their niggles and should be fit to start the game.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid continued their recovery in the middle of the season with a fine 3 - 2 win over Sporting Gijon last week. Diego Forlan put Atletico 1-0 ahead in the 13th minute, but Diego Castro Gimenez leveled things up in the 34th minute through a penalty. Second half goals from Paulo Assuncao and Ibrahima Balde meant that an injury time goal from Luis Moran was inconsequential.

The win took the Madrid club to the 11th spot on the league table with 23 points from 18 games. Manager Quique Sanchez Flores will be delighted with this revival, but will know that Getafe will be a tough side to beat at home.
