Having managed to maintain a slender lead over Russia in the race for the World Cup spot, Germany finally managed to book their place to South Africa with a narrow 1-0 win over the Russians on Saturday with Miroslav Klose scoring the winner in the 35th minute.

Germany were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Jerome Boateng was shown a second yellow card in the 69th minute but the Germans hung on to secure a vital win that settled the fight at the top of the group table. While Boateng is suspended for the game, Joachim Low is expected to rest a number of his key players and test his bench strength before starting to lay the framework for the squad that will be representing the nation next year in South Africa.

Finland on the other hand will be going all out for a victory with coach Stuart Baxter keen to end the qualifying campaign with a victory. With Russia and Germany rarely dropping points, Finland was not in the picture to qualify even for the play offs but put up a strong showing in their recent games including a 2-1 win over Wales on Saturday.

Roni Porokara converted from a rebound to give his side an early lead in the 5th minute. Wales equalized against the run of play through Craig Bellamy but Finland fought back to restore their lead with Niklas Moisander scoring the winner in the 77th minute.
