Germany on their part will be hoping for at least a draw as they seek to book a place in the semi-finals of the competition. The Bavarians demonstrated their skills in fine fashion against Finland on Thursday beating them 2-0 to stay in the hunt for a spot in the next stage.

Goals from Benedikt Howedes and Ashkan Dejegah gave Germany all points on offer and made them favorites to go through at the expense of Spain. England meanwhile booked their place in the semi-finals with a fine 2-0 win over pre-tournament favorites Spain. The game was evenly balanced in the opening 45 minutes, but second-half goals from Fraizer Campbell and James Milner helped England collect all three points and move on in the competition despite a penalty miss from Milner in the 32nd minute.

Three Lions boss Stuart Pearce was delighted with his side's win and defended his decision to keep Theo Walcott on the bench. The Arsenal midfielder was introduced in the second half and made immediate impact setting up the Campbell goal.

He may once again be on the bench as England hope to make three wins out of three in the competition. Gabriel Agbonlahor may be rested for this game after suffering from sore shins, which forced him to come off in the last game.
