Germany had a historic campaign under Jurgen Klinsmann in the last World Cup and it appears that new boss Joachim Low has adhered to the blueprint he left behind. Low has seen to it that the squad which finished third at the World Cup has stayed together and what is more it is largely unchanged.

The heart of the German defense is manned by Christoph Metzelder, Per Mertesacker and Philipp Lahm. It is expected that Marcell Jansen will occupy the left back position giving the defense an impregnable and solid look.

Low has plenty of choices in the strike department as well. With players like Kevin Kuranyi, Mario Gomez, and Lukas Podolski at his disposal, it has become tough for Low to find a place for Miroslav Klose in his line-up.

Poland were not expected to qualify for Euro 2008 after their elimination in the first round of 2006 FIFA World Cup. However coach Leo Beenhakker has surprised one and all with the tenacity displayed by his squad selection.

So much so that Poland could very well challenge Germany and Croatia for a place in the next stage. Brazilian-born Roger Guerreiro has been included in the 23-man Polish squad, but there is no place for Grzegorz Bronowicki, Radoslaw Majewski and Radoslaw Matusiak.
