Germany v Cyprus LiveHaving already qualified for Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland next year, Germany will want to top Group D as they welcome Cyprus on November 17. Coach Joachim Löw will want to erase memories of the 3-0 loss at home to the Czech Republic last time and end the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign as Group D leaders.
FC Schalke 04 midfielder Jermaine Jones was called up for the Germany side for the first time, but the 26-year-old is missing out the Group D qualifiers against Cyprus and Wales after sustaining an ankle injury during Schalke's 1-1 draw at Hamburger SV.
Joachim Löw has decided not to name any replacement for the injured Jones. The Germany squad wears a settled look and will be favorites to finish on top at the end of this month's games.
Meanwhile Cyprus coach Angelos Anastasiadis has named striker Michalis Konstantinou in his squad after he was omitted from the 3-1 defeat of Wales last month. Cyprus can finish as high as third in Group D following the Wales win and the 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland.
Estathios Aloneftis is back after serving a one-match suspension against the Republic of Ireland. With Germany and the Czech Republic having already qualified for the Euro 2008 finals, Cyprus will hope to nullify the two-point advantage that Ireland have and clinch the third spot in Group D.
Germany are second in Group D with 23 points from 10 games, while Cyprus are fourth with 14 points from 10 games.
