Fulham had their run of two successive wins over Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers stopped at Ewood Park last week as Blackburn Rovers triumphed 1-0. The hard-fought game was decided in the 94th minute by a strike from Matt Derbyshire after Roque Santa Cruz had laid the ball into his path.

 

 

Manager Roy Hodgson will however be pleased with Fulham's start to this campaign and has already said his side has no intention of getting into a relegation dogfight at any point during the season.

Fulham face Burnley in their Carling Cup clash during the midweek, which could also see Andy Johnson start as he seeks his first goal as a Cottager.

West Ham made a bright start to their era under new boss Gianfranco Zola with a 3-1 with over hapless Newcastle United at Upton Park last weekend.

 

 

David di Michele scored a brace, while Matthew Etherington got the third goal. Michael Owen pulled one back for Newcastle. West Ham are still facing injury crisis with strikers Dean Ashton and Craig Bellamy battling various injuries.

Last season West Ham clinched this fixture 0-1, a result that Zola will happily take this time around.
