Sunderland have started the new season on a strong note and though they have collected just eight points from their first seven matches, fans will be optimistic that their side will be able to improve on its 15th placed finish from the last season if they manage to put up consistent performances throughout the season.

The Black Cats go into the match on the back of a morale boosting performance in their 1-1 draw against Arsenal before the international break. Sunderland were in control for most of the game and defended brilliantly against Arsenal before taking the lead late in the game through Grant Leadbitter but Cesc Fabregas headed home the equalizer late in injury time to snatch a point for Arsenal.

 

 

Fulham on the other hand go into the match on the back of three straight defeats in the league that has seen them slip down to 17th in the league table. The Cottagers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against West Brom in their last match with Roman Bednar hitting the back of the net on the hour mark.

Sunderland had secured a comfortable 3-1 win over Fulham in this fixture last season with Danny Collins, Michael Chopra and Kenwyne Jones on target for the Black Cats. Jones could make his first appearance of the season for Sunderland after spending more than four months out on the sidelines with a knee injury.
