The Cottagers have not won a single match since beating Manchester United back in December and have lost their last five games. The poor run of form has all but ended hopes of European football next season with the club sliding down to 11th in the league table, 11 points behind seventh placed Manchester City.

With the club being forced to sell Younes Kaboul to Tottenham Hotspur, the future is looking bleak for Pompey who are now all but certain of plying their trade in the Championship next season.

Pompey suffered yet another defeat on Sunday, this time against Manchester City with manager Avram Grant expressing disappointment that his side was not able to take advantage of their superiority in the first half. Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany were on target as City cruised to a comfortable victory, leaving Portsmouth seven points clear of safety.

Bobby Zamora and Simon Davies are available for selection after starting the game against Aston Villa while Pompey could be boosted by returns of Kanu, Nadir Belhadj and Hassan Yebda who are still with their national squad.
