Fulham face Derby in a Premiership clash that could very well determine which team could be relegated this season. Both teams lie deep in the relegation zone with disappointing starts to the new Premier League season.

Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez has faced difficult times despite having brought several new players to Craven Cottage in the summer. The Cottagers have announced plans to expand the capacity of their stadium by 4000 seats, but the main question is will they remain in the Premiership for them to take advantage of this?

The team got a boost when forward Clint Dempsey was spared punishment for his untimely challenge on Chelsea captain John Terry, which caused a depressed fracture of the cheekbone for the latter. However Fulham have not looked like scoring in a long time and Sanchez will want to remedy this as soon as possible. Last time Fulham started well against Portsmouth only to fritter away a host of chances as they went down 2-0. Fulham are 18th in the Premier League table with just seven points from nine games.

On the other hand even Derby have had a wretched start to their Premiership season. Trashed by huge margins by Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, the Rams have one of the worst goal difference record in the Premiership.

Derby boss Billy Davies has expressed confidence his side can stay in top flight, but results against the so-called weak teams do not indicate his. Last match Derby lost 1-0 to Reading and surely even Davies can see the writing on the wall.

Derby are at the bottom of the Premier League table with five points from 9 games played so far.
