France take on Costa Rica in their first friendly game before the World Cup with coach Raymond Domenech looking to give some of the fringe players a chance to impress ahead of the tournament next month. France have been picked in a relatively easy group with Mexico, South Africa and Uruguay but Domenech has a squad of his hands that is not happy with their recent performances in the qualifying campaign.

The French manager has called up the squad to be united over the next month as he looks to end his tenure as the France manager by helping his side lift the World Cup for only the second time in its history.

Lassana Diarra will be unavailable for selection with the Real Madrid midfielder suffering from a stomach pain that will see him miss the World Cup next month. William Gallas is expected to start the game and prove that he is fit for the World Cup with the defender playing just once for Arsenal since February while Mathieu Valbuena is also likely to play some part in the game.
