Raymond Domenech’s side needed a late winner against Costa Rica in a game which they failed to impress while another late goal saved the day for France with William Gallas celebrating his return to full fitness by scoring the equalizer against Tunisia midway through the second half.

It was a disappointing performance from France giving rise to fears of another poor international tournament after they failed to progress past the group stages in Euro 2008. Meanwhile captain Thierry Henry admitted that he will have to be satisfied with a super-sub role after the Barcelona striker failed to start both of France’s friendly games with Domenech opting for a lone striker in form of Nicolas Anelka.
