The Viola sneaked in a narrow victory over Debrecen in their last match to move second in the group table and open up a three point lead over third placed Liverpool. Fiorentina looked on course for a comfortable victory by opening up a 3-1 lead inside the first 20 minutes thanks to a brace from Adrian Mutu and another by Alberto Gilardino.

Though Gergely Rudolf reduced the deficit in the 28th minute, Mario Santana restored Fiorentina's two goal lead before half time. Debrecen put up an improved performance in the second half, managing to get one back Adamo Coulibaly late in the game but Fiorentina hung on to claim vital three points from the game.

Coach Cesare Prandelli will be looking to repeat the result this week but will be hopeful that it can be achieved in a far more comfortable manner. With Liverpool set to face a stern test against Lyon in their game, Prandelli will be looking to capitalize on any slip ups and take a big step towards clinching their place in the knockout stages.

However the Fiorentina coach will be aware that his side will have to improve on their home form with the club managing to win just once at Stadio Artemio Franchi. The Viola have struggled in their recent matches, losing their last two games in the domestic league.Prandelli has a couple of injury concerns with Mario Santana and Martin Jorgensen both taking knocks in the game against Napoli while defender Cesare Natali is a major doubt due to his injury.
