Finland have an outside chance of making it through to the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next year. They must win their last two games against Azerbaijan and Portugal and hope other Group A results fall in their favor.

Finland Coach Roy Hodgson will bee boosted by the news of Jari Litmanen's return following his recovery from an achilles tendon problem. Midfielders Teemu Tainio and Markus Heikkinen and striker Mikael Forssell have also recovered from injuries that forced them to miss last month's game against Belgium.

However striker Alexei Eremenko Jr is out of the side after he sustained a broken jaw following an assault in Moscow. The 24-year-old was already suspended for the Azerbaijan game, but was expected to be available for the Portugal match. Alexei Eremenko Jr will have a minor operation on his jaw and he is out for three weeks.

Finland have their task cut out in Group A, which also includes Poland, Serbia and Portugal. It is a credit to the team that they are still in with a chance in the final games.

Meanwhile new Azerbaijan coach Gjoko Hadzievski faces an unenviable task of naming a squad for the first and last time in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. He replaced Shakhin Diniyev last week and with his team occupying the last spot in Group A this could be his last squad.

PFC Neftchi duo Rashad F. Sadygov and Zaur Tagizade make as return to the Azerbaijan squad after a long time as does the country's leading scorer Zaur Ramazanov.

Finland are fourth in Group A with 20 points from 12 games, while Azerbaijan have bottomed out with 5 points from 10 games.
